The Saudi Standards Board of Directors Approves (3) New Technical Regulations and (110) Standard Project

The Board of Directors of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization held its meeting No. (179) headed by His Excellency the Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Authority, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi. ​

In this meeting, the Board reviewed a report on the performance of SASO’s strategic plan projects for the fourth quarter of the year (2020), and SASO’s work plan for the year (2021). The Board also agreed to establish a Vehicle Safety Center within SASO’s organizational structure. 

The Standards Board approved (3) new technical regulations, which are the technical regulations for the reduction of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment and devices, the technical regulations for used imported vehicles, the technical regulations for leather products, in addition to taking note of the adoption of the Saudi standard projects, (110 projects). 

It is noteworthy that SASO’s board of directors is attended by representatives of a number of government agencies, such as: the Ministry of Interior (General Traffic Department and Civil Defense), Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, Ministry of Energy, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Finance (the Authority General Customs), Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, Food and Drug General Authority, and (3) representatives of the business sector.
