"SASO": More than 5000 Business Facilities Registered their Products in Saber Platform

      The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) has revealed that the number of commercial facilities and local factories registered in Saber e-platform has reached more than 5000 so far. The number of registered consumer products exceeded 60 thousand consumer products designed for the import and sale within the Saudi market.

      SASO clarified that its Saber e-platform aims to facilitate procedures of conformity assessment certificates for consumer products before entering the Saudi market. In addition, Saber aims at raising the quality level of products offered in the market. Furthermore, SASO noted that the application of Saber has started on products subject to the regulation of gas appliances and their accessories. Remaining technical regulations will follow it in succession according to a timetable to be announced by SASO.

      SASO pointed out that Saber system will also help to reduce costs of issuing product conformity certificates and expedite clearance procedures for registered products. Saber e-platform is in the process of being linked to a clearing platform in cooperation with the General Customs Authority to reduce the period of clearance at customs outlets. In turn, this will help in speeding up procedures and reducing costs on commercial facilities, such as: the cost of flooring in the outlets in addition to the cost of testing local laboratories for imported products.

      SASO stressed that Saber e-platform classifies products based on components and manufacturing methods, regardless of the color, size and measurement of products. Business owners can register their consumer products by product category on Saber e-platform and then complete their certification procedures easily.

      Saber e-platform, developed by SASO in partnership with a national company, is an extension of SASO's strategy to automate and develop its business to serve both commercial and investment sectors. Moreover, it aims at achieving the Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Transformation Program (NTP) 2020.
