Minister of MCI sponsors works of SMIIC tomorrow

H. E. the Minister of Commerce and Investment Dr. Majid Al Qasabi will sponsor tomorrow, Monday, the works of the 13th General Assembly (GA) of the Standards and Metrology Institute for the Islamic Countries (SMIIC) which will be hosted in Makkah, with the participation of several heads of standardization bodies in Islamic countries and a number of representatives of relevant regional organizations.
The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) commended the Minister for sponsoring and supporting the efforts and activities of SMIIC, stressing that the Kingdom's presidency represents a new beginning towards enhancing constructive and effective cooperation among Muslim countries.
This morning, Makkah has hosted the meeting of SMIIC's board of directors No. (17).
These meetings are a result of the Kingdom's winning, represented by SASO, of the chairmanship of SMIIC's Board of Directors for the period2018 – 2020. This was during the 12th meeting of SMIIC, held in the last quarter of 2017, during which the Kingdom was elected for membership of the Board of Directors, membership of the Standardization Council, for the period 2018-2020, and membership of the Board of Accreditation, for the period 2018-2020.
