The Governor of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO), His Excellency Dr. Sa'ad bin Othman Al-Kasabi, headed the Kingdom's delegation participating in the meetings of the ISO Week 2018, which is organized by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) in Geneva, Switzerland.

      ​The Kingdom's delegation participated in a number of events and meetings, including the 52^nd meeting of the DEVCO Committee on developing country matters, along with a number of meetings and other working committees.

      In addition, the Kingdom's participation witnessed the signing of a technical cooperation program between the Governor of SASO and the Director General of the Swedish Standards Institute (SIS), Thomas Edermark, on the sidelines of the meetings.

      The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) is the largest and the most important international organization concerned with standardization, holding 162 members. The Kingdom, represented by SASO, won a membership of the Board of Directors of ISO for the period 2018-2020. SASO also participates in the policy development committees of ISO Board of Directors.

      The number of the main international technical ISO committees is (244), under which there are many sub-committees. SASO participates in ISO technical committees as a participating member in (56) international technical committees and sub-committees, and as an observing member in (164) technical committees and sub-committees.
