 Chemical Measurements

The importance of chemical metrology is increasing both nationally and internationally in areas such as food safety, environmental quality, climate change, and public health. Chemical measurements constitute more than 60% of the total measurements conducted daily worldwide. Accredited Reference Materials (CRMs) are considered the cornerstone to ensure the accuracy of measurements, as measurement results are standardized to the International System of Units (SI). Chemical metrology management prepares and characterizes organic, gas, and electrical reference materials according to relevant international standards and supplies them to local and regional markets.

The gas measurements laboratory specializes in producing reference materials for carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and natural gas, according to approved international standards. Measurement results of these gas concentrations are standardized to the International System of Units (SI) and are provided to the market in cylinders filled with gas-nitrogen mixtures at various concentrations, accompanied by certificates. These reference materials are used for calibrating environmental pollutant monitoring devices, automotive emissions measurements, and gas chromatography instruments. Additionally, the laboratory conducts analyses of cylinders containing carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and natural gas, accurately determining their concentrations. The laboratory boasts advanced calibration and measurement capabilities, ensuring accuracy and consistency in the resultsm, as follows:

The organic chemistry measurements laboratory operates extensively in the production of reference materials serving food safety and environmental protection fields. The laboratory focuses on preparing reference materials for pesticides, preservatives, antibiotics, food oils, and aromatic hydrocarbon compounds that are environmental pollutants. The laboratory adopts the latest methods and technologies in its measurements to produce certified reference materials according to international protocols, ensuring compliance with ISO 17034 specifications. These reference materials are produced with certificates for supply in local and Gulf markets. The laboratory boasts advanced calibration and measurement capabilities, ensuring accuracy and consistency in the results, as follows:

The electrochemical chemistry measurements laboratory specializes in preparing primary buffer solutions and measuring pH using international reference methods, certifying them accordingly. These solutions are provided to water analysis laboratories in drinking water companies, food and beverage companies, and pharmaceutical companies to ensure water quality. They are also used in factories to measure the acidity and alkalinity of water entering and exiting industrial processes. The laboratory is distinguished by its acquisition of a reference measurement system for pH measurement and a primary measurement system for measuring the concentration of acids and salts by coulometry. The laboratory has advanced calibration and measurement capabilities to ensure the accuracy and consistency of measurementsm, as follows:
