The Kingdom Participates in Meetings of the BOD of SMIIC in Turkey

The Kingdom participated in the 18th meeting of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Standards and Metrology for the Islamic Countries (SMIIC) in Istanbul, Republic of Turkey. The delegation of the Kingdom was headed by HE Dr. Saad bin Othman Al-Kasabi, the Governor of SASO and a number of officials from SASO and SFDA.
SASO's Governor also presided the meetings of the Board of Directors of SMIIC as Chairman of the Board. Discussions at the meeting focused on standardization and specification in Islamic countries and ways to promote joint Islamic action. The participants discussed the implementation of the strategic plan of SMIIC for the period 2019-2020. The meeting also approved the terms of reference (TOR) of SMIIC's Board of Directors and approved the election of the Chairman and Vice-Chairman of the Accreditation Council (AC) for the period 2018-2020.
This participation comes within the framework of SASO's keenness to be active in meetings of Arab, regional and international organizations that share its membership, to keep abreast of the latest developments in the various standardization fields, which is reflected positively on the various activities of SASO.
It is worth noting that SASO is a member of the Board of Directors of SMIIC and the Standardization Management Council (SMC) for the period 2018-2020. Also, the Saudi National Accreditation Committee is a member of the Accreditation Council (AC) for the period 2018-2020.
