Minister of Trade and Investment Sponsors Saudi Product Safety Forum, April 17th

 


      His Excellency the Minister of Trade and Investment, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO), Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, sponsors the Saudi Product Safety Forum, organized by SASO, at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, in Riyadh, from 12th to 13th of Sha'ban, 1440H, corresponding to 17th to18th of April, 2019.

      SASO explained that this Forum comes within the framework of SASO's efforts to achieve the objectives of the National Transformation Program (NTP) 2020 to raise the quality and safety of products and services in the Saudi market in order to enhance consumer safety. Through this Forum, SASO aims at developing the future framework for product safety in the Kingdom in accordance with the best followed global practices.

      The Forum will include a number of regional and international experiences in the field of product safety through 31 working papers. More than 30 experts from 16 countries around the world will participate in the Forum in addition to representatives of a number of relevant international and regional organizations and bodies.

      Saudi Product Safety Forum deals with several topics, including: product safety system in the Kingdom and the Gulf; rapid alert systems for unsafe products in the market; product safety legislation, regional and global experiences in market surveillance and risk assessment; and the development of regulations and standards related to product safety. 

      SASO called on all interested parties and experts to participate in this Forum as an opportunity to learn about many distinguished local, Gulf and international experiences in the field of product safety, from the public and private sectors.
