The Governor of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) Dr. Saad bin Othman Al-Kasabi, congratulated the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz, Crown Prince HRH Prince Mohammad bin Salman and the Saudi people on the occasion of the 88th National Day of the Kingdom, asking Allah Almighty to maintain our blessed country with the blessing of security and prosperity, and to achieve further progress and prosperity.

Dr. Al-Kasabi said that the Kingdom is living a present aspiring for excellence and leadership. The Kingdom has started taking firm steps towards achieving its ambitious national Vision 2030, thus continuing the process of development and glory, which its loyal leaders have started since the founding of this blessed entity by the founder King Abdulaziz. This Vision paves the way, God willing, for a brighter and more prosperous future for a nation that elevates with the determination of its leadership and flourishes with the will of its people.

Furthermore, he pointed out that SASO has completed an important phase of implementing its initiatives as part of the National Transformation Program 2020, including the Saudi Product Safety Program (Saleem), where a number of technical regulations have been issued for a range of products and high-risk commodities to enhance consumer safety, in addition to the legal calibration initiative which was launched to ensure fairness in transactions based on trade standards and balances. Moreover, he added that SASO also participates in other Vision fulfillment programs such as Al-Rahman Guests Service Program and the National Industrial Development and Logistics Program.

The Governor confirmed that SASO continued, during the last year 2017, in issuing the National Conformity Index, which showed the high rate of matching commodities according to the target. SASO has also obtained international accreditation for 223 tests in its laboratories, while launching and operating 30 specialized laboratories in measurement and calibration. In addition to the issuance, it updated and translated 1,491 standards and 8 mandatory technical regulations. Moreover, SASO has started the operation of laboratories specialized in testing tires and thermal insulation, in addition to the establishment of the National Center for Monitoring Product Reporting, as well as the issuance of 22,072 licenses using the energy efficiency label.
