Clarification from SASO on the mandatory application of lighting products' standards through the implementation of the general regulation for energy efficiency
With reference to SASO's application of the product safety methodology, which is based on the issuance of technical regulations for the product sectors and the issuance of standards in the form of optional standard specifications, which is mandatory through relevant technical regulations.
Based on the above, SASO is currently transferring the issuance status of the standard specifications, for which technical regulations covering their field have been issued, to optional. Thus, the issuance status for the two standard specifications (SASO 2870: 2015) and (SASO 2902: 2018) has been converted to optional. Moreover, due to the issuance of the General Regulation for Energy Efficiency (No. M.A-156-16-03-05) adopted by the Board of Directors' meeting No. (156), held on the 16th of Ramadan, 1439AH (21/6/2016) and published in the Official Gazette, issue. (4730 ) on the 24th of Ramadan, 1439AH where reference for both standards was made in Annex (1) of the regulation.
