SASO Participates in Awareness Events on the Occasion of World Environment Day
The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) participates in the celebration of World Environment Day under the slogan "Overcoming Plastic Pollution" as part of governmental efforts to raise awareness about the importance of preserving environment through organizing awareness and educational activities over three days, started on Tuesday 20 Ramadan and ends on Thursday 22 Ramadan, corresponding to 5-7/6/2018, God willing, at Al Bujairi Square in Ad Diriyah -in the city of Riyadh.
The event includes a series of awareness activities on environment. The participated bodies will also present visual presentations on their efforts and achievements in the field of environment, as well as a variety of activities related to family and children such as competitions and coloring activities, video shows on the stage and various works of art such as murals and other performances. The event aims at spreading environmental awareness to all sectors of society, preserving environment, enhancing continuous communication with community and promoting participation in environment conservation.
SASO affirmed that the preservation of environmental safety is one of the most important strategic objectives that underpin the issuance of standards and technical regulations, to reduce the negative effects of industrial development requirements and to promote practices that ensure greater sustainability of development projects and reach sustainable economic and social development. SASO noted that it has adopted a set of standards and regulations that support sustainability and promote the concepts of environmental conservation, the most important of which is the issuance of a mandatory technical regulation concerning the technical requirements required in the manufacturing of 18 plastic products, which are some of the most products that cause environmental pollution and impact on environment, health and public safety.
It is noted that this event is hosted in partnership with Riyadh Municipality, Ministry of Health, the General Authority of Meteorology and Environmental Protection, SASO, Saudi Industrial Property Authority and Saudi Aramco.
