SASO has invited specialists and interested parties to view and participate on the draft of the technical regulation for personal protective equipment and clothing which SASO is currently preparing for the formal accreditation and mandatory application, based on SASO's keenness to develop regulatory frameworks that contribute to the promotion of the practices of the occupational safety and health, and improve the quality of products and services in the Saudi market.

     SASO explained that these regulations aim to identify the basic requirements of the products covered in the field of this regulation, and determine the conformity assessment procedures that the suppliers must adhere to, in order to ensure that these products conform with the basic requirements aimed at maintaining the health and safety of the consumer.

     SASO has indicated that this technical regulation shall be applied to personal protective equipment and clothing designed to protect users' health and safety against potential hazards. Personal protective equipment and clothing intended for military use, and personal protective equipment and clothing intended for use in self-defense sports, will be excepted from applying the provisions of these regulations.
