SASO Organizes Five Workshops to Introduce the Technical Regulation for Devices and Accessories that Operate with Gas

SASO has organized five introductory workshops for manufacturers and importers on the technical regulation for devices and accessories that operate with gas in collaboration with the Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Jazan and Tabuk.

SASO announced that this regulation will be subject to mandatory application by the 16th of Rajab, 1438 AH, corresponding to the 13th of April, 2017, after it has been approved by SASO's Board of Directors, published in Official Gazette and manufacturers and importers got introduced to its requirements.

Furthermore, SASO confirmed that the implementation of the technical regulation will be on (12) devices and accessories that operate with gas. These include cooking stoves (cooktops, ovens, grills), LPG gas-fired heaters, LPG gas-fired water heaters ), gas pressure regulators, gas leakage detection systems, LPG cylinders for non-refillable liquefied gas, portable stoves, refillable liquefied petroleum gas cylinders, gas supply hoses, gas cylinder valves, fiber glass cylinders for refillable liquefied petroleum gas, as well as refillable LPG gas tanks (not exceeding 13 cubic meters).

SASO considered the producer's failure to comply with the requirements of this regulation a sufficient reason for regulatory bodies to judge a product as non-conforming with standard specifications, as it poses a danger to the health and safety of consumers and the environment. Moreover, SASO required products included in the regulation to have the Quality Mark.
