​​Referring to what is being circulated recently especially in local social networks about the ability of some electrical devices (Power Saver devices) to save electricity consumption at high rates of up to 40%. SASO would like to affirm that these devices are no more than simple electrical circuits and have no positive effect on electricity consumption. The Research and Studies Center at SASO in cooperation with relevant departments conducted a study in order to know how these devices work and to verify scientifically their effectiveness in saving power. The study was limited to a specific type of "plug-in devices", which are directly connected to the power outlet "sockets". The results of the study concluded that these types of devices do not reduce consumption of electricity and have no significant positive impact. Also, what the manufacturers or marketers of these types of devices claim is incorrect, and may reach the level of fraud and deception.

    SASO calls on consumers not to be deceived by advertisements that are not approved scientifically, which take advantage of the consumer's keenness to reduce the electricity consumption bill in order to promote such devices. SASO stresses on the importance of adopting sustainable practices to reduce the cost of the bill, through rationalization of consumption, acquisition of products conforming to standards of high efficiency, attention to periodic maintenance, and control of water heaters and air conditioners and to set them at a temperature of 24°C, in addition to other means that help rationalize electricity consumption.
