SASO Participates in Meetings of Higher Advisory Committee for Arab Standardization Bodies

     The Kingdom, represented by SASO, participated, in the 49th meeting of the Higher Advisory Committee for Standardization (under Arab Organization for Industrial Development and Mining-AIDMO), and in the Arab Forum of Standardization and Consumer Protection, held in the Sudanese capital, in conjunction with the meeting.

     During the meeting, the Kingdom's delegation was headed by HE Dr. Sa'ad bin Othman Al- Kasabi, Governor of SASO, who was accompanied by a number of SASO's officials. In a speech he delivered on the occasion of the Kingdom concluding its presidency-term of the meeting, Dr. Al-Kasabi stressed the need to exert more efforts towards real cooperation and integration between national standardization bodies in member countries, in order to promote the pivotal role of standards as a key pillar in sustainable development and economic enhancement.

     During the meeting, several important topics were discussed, such as: following up the implementation of the recommendations of the 48th meeting of Higher Advisory Committee for Standardization; preparing, adopting and updating unified Arab standards; applying unified Arab standards; and the Arab Forum of Standardization and Consumer Protection. Reports of the third meeting of secretariats of the Technical Committee for the preparation of unified Arab standards, the report of the seventh meeting of the Permanent Technical Advisory Committee, in charge of following up the implementation of the Arab Strategy for Standardization and Quality, were reviewed. In addition, a logo to celebrate the Arab Day of Standardization, in 2018, was chosen. Importantly, coordinating Arab stances in regional and international forums and meetings was discussed.

     Moreover, SASO participated in the activities of the Arab Forum for Standardization and Consumer Protection, which was held in conjunction with the meeting during the period 16-17/10/2017. Department Director of Service Standards, at SASO, Dr. Ahmad bin Bader Babader, presented a paper entitled Challenges and Opportunities for Service Standards in Saudi Arabia.​​
