Technical Cooperation Between SASO and KTL in Standardization and Test Fields
SASO and Korea Testing Laboratory (KTL) signed a technical cooperation program in standardization and test fields. The agreement was signed by SASO's Deputy Governor for Standards and Laboratories, Eng. Abdullah bin Awadh Al-Qahtani, and KTL's President, Mr. Lee Wonbok.
For his part, Eng. Abdullah Al-Qahtani said that through these agreements, SASO looks forward to enhancing cooperation with regional and international standardization and testing bodies. He also pointed out that the field of cooperation in this program includes developing national legislation of energy efficiency and related areas. In addition, the cooperation covers the participation in bilateral comparisons of tests besides exchanging information and documents of test methods. Moreover, SASO expects that this program will support human capital working at SASO in related fields, through technical consultations, training and education in Korea or Saudi Arabia.
Eng. Al-Qahtani mentioned that SASO and KTL aim, through this cooperation, at exchanging information and expertise in standardization and test fields of energy efficiency and other relevant areas, and providing technical consultations to develop laboratories of energy efficiency and pertinent fields. Further, he illustrated that the agreement also aims to exchange information and expertise in the field of bilateral comparisons of national measurement standards, and cooperate in the field of qualifying laboratories to achieve international accreditation and recognition of their technical capabilities.
For his part, KTL's President, Mr. Lee Wonbok, praised the advanced level of SASO's laboratories regarding equipment as well as professional and scientific levels of personnel working at different units of the Energy Efficiency Laboratory. He stated that KTL is pleased to cooperate with SASO and expressed his trust that such programs will contribute to localizing knowledge and exchanging expertise between the two parties.
