Riyadh Hosts an Arab Gathering on Upholding Community Partnership, Society Service and Sustainable Development for Standardization Activities

     Tuesday, 17-18 Jumada I, 1438 AH, corresponding to 14-15 Feb. 2017. Will be the launch date for the events of the two-day workshop (Upholding Community Partnership, Society Service and Sustainable Development for Standardization Activities). The workshop is organized by SASO in cooperation with the Arab Industrial Development and Mining Organization (AIDMO), under the patronage of his Excellency, D​r. Majid Abdullah Al-Kasabi, Minister of Commerce and Investment, Chairman of the Board of Directors at SASO.

     The workshop includes 6 scientific sessions, starting with the main session "Strategic Visions", headed by Dr. Mohammed Al-Kuwari, Director of Research and Studies Center at the Ministry of Environment. Strategic visions in the field of standardization, on the Arab and regional levels,  will be viewed with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Commerce and Investment and the Arab Industrial Development and Mining Organization. 

     The first scientific session addresses the impact of standardization activities on services and sustainable development, and is headed by Dr. Hassan Al-Hazmi, Deputy of Technical Affairs at the Ministry of Housing, during which Prof. Abdullah Al- Qadi, Vice-President of Imam Abdularhamn bin Faisal University, speaks about: "Standardization Activities; Enablers or support and Decision Making" Vision 2030 "towards a sustainable development". Then, Dr. Tamadir Salih from the Sudanese Standards and Metrology Org. highlights the importance of standardization activities and their role in the development of community services. Brig. Yasser bin Hassan Babai'er will talk about standardizing medical laboratories services initiative. Eng. Fahad Al- Asheikh will speak, during his participation, about King Abdulaziz Project for Riyadh Public Transport. The first scientific session also includes a participation about King Abdulaziz Quality Award, presented by Dr. Zain Al-Thubaity, Executive Director of the Award. The session will conclude with a lecture presented by Dr. Abdullah Al-Shehri, Chairman of Quality Subcommittee in Namas province, on raising the administrative efficiency of organizations, to raise the efficiency of social partnership and sustainable development.   

     The second session will be headed by Dr. Ghanim Al- Ghanim, Consultant of the Minister of Education, Total Quality General Director at the Ministry. The session covers  community partnerships and the role of education in development and community services. Dr. Tamer Abdulghani from the Community Partnership Development Department at King Faisal University, will speak about the requirements of community partnership requirements in Saudi universities, according to the International Standard for Social Responsibility (ISO26000). Mr. Nabeel Salah, Manager of the branches of the Egyptian Administration for Assay and Weights, will discuss the means and impact of supporting community partnership, community service and sustainable development of standardization activities. Prof. Najah Al-Qara'wi, Dean of the Deanship of Community services and Sustainable Development at Imam Abdulrahman Al Faisal University will speak about "Social Responsibility Bank; a Great Responsibility". In addition, Dr. Haitham Abdulsalam Head of Committee for Consumer Affairs, Sudanese Standards and Metrology Org. participates with a lecture on education and community partnerships. On the other hand, Dr. Faisal Awad Abdulqader will shed light on community partnership at Jeddah Chamber, through their Social Responsibility Center. Dr. Mohammed Al-Otaibi, Director of Oxford Academy For Training & Consulting will address the role and impact of cooperative organizations in activating community partnership and sustainable development. The last lecture on the first day of the Workshop will be entitled "the Impact of Geospatial Information on Sustainable Development", and will be presented by" Dr. Saad bin Mohammed Al-Hamlan, Secretary General of the National Committee for Geographic Information Systems in the Kingdom. 

     The workshop resumes its activities tomorrow Wednesday with three sessions. The first is entitled "Standardization, Quality and Sustainability of Business Sector Projects", followed by "Training and Development; a sustainable institutional development", while the third session will review (Social Practices and Experiences) in the field of entrepreneurship. ​​
