Memorandum of Cooperation between "SASO" and "Saudi Electricity Company" to Develop and Activate the Programs of Energy Efficiency and Energy Consumption Rationalization
SASO has signed a memorandum of joint technical cooperation with Saudi Electricity Company (SEC), as part of the efforts of both sides to activate the programs of energy efficiency and energy consumption rationalization, and to exchange expertise and information to achieve this goal. The agreement was signed by His Excellency the Governor of SASO, Dr. Saad bin Othman Al Kasabi, and HE Eng. Ziyad bin Mohammed Al-Shiha, CEO of Saudi Electricity Company (SEC).
The agreement aims at transferring and localizing science and technology, promoting researches and studies, as well as qualifying and training technical personnel and competencies to ensure raising competitive abilities in the activities of SASO and SEC. In addition, that is to enhance the integration with all stakeholders concerned with the fields of the two sides.
Dr. Saad Al Kasabi hoped that this agreement will enhance cooperation mechanisms between SASO and SEC, and all stakeholders, to preserve the natural resources of the Kingdom, stressing that the issue of activating the programs of energy efficiency and energy consumption rationalization have become necessary and strategic issues. Furthermore, this agreement will allow for more cooperation between SASO and SEC in promoting full advantage of electrical energy through the creation of valid and standard technical mechanisms to raise performance and operation efficiency in all relevant areas related to the fields of SASO and SEC. He has praised the great efforts exerted by SEC in the operations of generating, transmitting and distributing electrical energy.
For his part, Eng. Ziyad Al-Shiha said that SEC is keen on activating and strengthening cooperation with all stakeholders in various fields, pointing out that the technical regulations and standard specifications have a great role in maximizing ways to take advantage of natural energy resources in the Kingdom. He stressed that SEC will work, through the agreement, on exchanging experiences in the field of standards, metrology, and quality management systems and applications, and on participating in the technical teams for setting standard specifications related to the fields of SEC, saying that it would benefit from the Saudi standards issued by SASO.
SASO and SEC, through this agreement, work on transferring and localizing standardization activities, and quality and calibration systems in the field of related activities, as well as transferring knowledge and scientific studies and researches. In addition, they work on activating the joint technical cooperation in the field of setting, reviewing and updating standard specifications and technical regulations in order to establish confidence in the Saudi standard specifications and technical regulations issued by SASO, for all services related to SEC.
