SASO Organizes 4 Workshops Introducing Eight New Mandatory Technical Regulations 
 

     ​During this month, SASO witnesses intensive activities, through organizing four varying workshops, to introduce manufactures and importers to new technical requirements for a number of products included in 8 mandatory technical regulations, approved by SASO Board of Directors, in preparation for entering the mandatory implementation phase. The workshops will be held at SASO Headquarters in Riyadh. 

      SASO initiates these activities with a workshop to introduce the technical regulation for devices that operate with gas and accessories, on Monday 7th Safar, 1438 AH, corresponding to 7th Nov., 2016. This workshop will be followed by another one introducing three technical regulations for paints and building materials, on 14th Safar, 1438 AH, corresponding to 14th Nov., 2016. Another workshop will be held on the 21st of the same month, to raise awareness of the requirements of technical regulations for detergents and plastic products OXO – biodegradable technical regulation. The activities will be concluded with an introductory workshop on the technical regulation for energy efficiency and the technical regulation for the tools to rationalize water consumption, on 28th Safar, 1438 AH, corresponding to 28th Nov., 2016. 

      SASO has invited all relevant authorities to take part in these workshops, so keen to promote integration and partnership with all stakeholders and concerned bodies. SASO stressed that there is no room for complacency in the application of those regulations and their requirements, especially that products concerned with this regulation are of high risk; related primarily to the safety of consumer and environment. SASO, in cooperation with concerned parties, will apply an integrated approach to conformity assessment procedures within a comprehensive program for the safety of products i.e., to activate means of censorship on all products offered to the consumer.

      SASO expressed its hope that this effective and constructive cooperation will bear fruit in providing required safety and quality levels in products and services provided in the Saudi market.
