Eng. Abdullah bin Awadh Al-Qahtani, SASO Deputy Governor of  Standards and Laboratories, participated with a worksheet entitled "Role of Reference Laboratories and Future Vision" as part of the activities of The Seventh Forum Of Measurement, organized by the Saudi Quality Council under the patronage of His Excellency the Governor of SASO, Dr. Saad Al Kasabi, under the title "Measurements in a Dynamic World," on the occasion of World Metrology Day, at Hilton Hotel in Jeddah.
Al-Qahtani has reviewed, through the worksheet, the strategic vision of SASO in the field of inspection laboratories and quality control, and the efforts of SASO to convert those laboratories into arbitral and referential laboratories for private laboratories in the Kingdom. In addition, he has reviewed the role of the laboratories in supporting the standardization process and the issuance of specifications, as well as its vital role in verifying that goods are conforming to the accredited standard specifications.
The events included a number of scientific activities including a lecture entitled "Tour in the World of Measurement" and “Measurements in a Dynamic World”, as well as a lecture on the satellite technology as a motivation for innovation and another lecture on electrical equipment tests "Quality and Future Vision". In addition, there was  a display of the measurements of time from the dynamics of the past to the developments of the present, and health standards from the  perspective of medical rehabilitation and physiotherapy.
It is noteworthy that this event is held annually aware of SASO and the Saudi Quality Council to coincide with World Metrology Day, which dates back to May 20, 1875 when  17 nations signed  on the agreement, in which they commit to the Metre Convention, which became known as the International System of Units ( SI). It includes kilogram, metre, second,  and other conventional units.
The events of the meeting aim to introduce the extent of accuracy in the measurements of products and preparing laboratories for quality control of measurements for various industries, noting the role of the Council in supporting performance excellence of individuals and organizations by providing opportunities to learn, improve quality, and exchange knowledge.
