SASO Participates in Meetings of High Consultative Committee for Standardization
SASO participated in the 46th meeting of the High Consultative Committee for Standardization and in the 4th meeting of the Permanent Technical Consultative Committee in charge of following up the updates of the Arab Strategy for Standardization and Quality (2014-2018), held at the headquarters of the Arab Industrial Development and Mining Organization (AIDMO) in Rabat during the period of Rajab 14th -15th, 1437 AH, corresponding to April 21st- 22nd, 2016.
The Chairman of SASO delegation participating in those meetings, Eng. Abdullah bin Awadh Al-Qahtani, Deputy Governor for Standards and Laboratories, delivered a speech in which he confirmed the role played by standard specifications, quality systems, and laboratories in order to improve trade and competitiveness in markets. He also stressed the importance of integration among Arab standardization bodies, which promotes and unifies Arab standard specifications.
Eng. Al-Qahtani emphasized the importance of joint action to implement the Arab Strategy for Standardization and Quality which is supervised by the Permanent Technical Consultative Committee in charge of following up the implementation of the Arab Strategy for Standardization and Quality (2014-2018). The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia also participates in implementing this strategy through its SASO representative.
At those meetings, participants discussed many Arab issues of common interest in the field of standards and quality. Further, they reviewed mechanisms necessary to activate cooperation and mutual support among Arab standardization bodies participating in AIDMO. The Islamic Republic of Mauritania chaired the meeting.
