Dr. Saad Al kasabi Chairman for the Saudi Building Code National Committee
The Saudi Building Code National Committee has held its first meeting after the Council of Ministers' Resolution No. (459) dated 02/11/1436 AH corresponding to 17/08/2015, which approves transferring the Saudi Building Code National Committee to SASO. Thereby, linking it to the Minister of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of SASO's Board of Directors. The meeting was attended by representatives of the parties and members of the Committee.
Members of the Committee unanimously chose Dr. Saad bin Othman Al kasabi, Governor of SASO, to be chairman of the Committee. Eng. Abdulaziz bin Ali Alabdulkareem, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, has also been chosen as Deputy Chairman of the Committee. This has been decided during the Committee's meeting, after completing the nomination and selection steps followed by the Committee.
On his part, Dr. Saad expressed his pride in the confidence of the committee's members, stressing that the Committee will work rapidly to support the wheel of development and promote integration and cooperation among the concerned bodies. Chairman of the Saudi Building Code National Committee has also stressed on the important strategic role of the Saudi Building Code in the construction renaissance witnessed by the Kingdom. In addition, it supports the economic and developmental process taking place in the Kingdom through construction projects and industries related to this vital sector.
Dr. Al kasabi emphasized the importance of activating integration between all authorities concerned with applying and developing the code, in order to have an active system applying the code on ground. He also emphasized the importance of coordinating existing efforts to develop the Gulf Building Code and working towards the adoption of unified strategies and visions in order to support the goal; the Saudi Building Code becomes a technical reference for all regional standardization bodies.
It is worth mentioning that the Saudi Building Code is the result of collective efforts and the outcome of different governmental and private sectors that participated in the works and activities of the National Committee through consultative and substantive technical work teams, in addition to the participations of interested people and specialists from all sectors.
