SASO Participates in the 32nd Gulf Traffic Week Under the Slogan ( Your Decision Determines Your Destiny)
Under the patronage of HRH Prince Saud bin Nayef, Governor of Eastern Province, Dr. Khalid Al-Battal, the Undersecretary of Eastern Region Governorate, on behalf of His Royal Highness, opened the 32nd GCC Traffic Week under the slogan (Your Decision Determines Your Destiny) and its accompanying exhibition on Sunday, 04/06/1437 AH, corresponding to 13/03/2016 at Dhahran Mall. As usual, SASO participates in this exhibition with a pavilion to educate citizens and residents about the importance of safety and the role played by SASO to reduce accidents. When Dr. Al-Battal visited SASO's pavilion, he was received by the Director General of SASO in the Eastern Province, Mr. Tamis bin Ali Al-Hammadi, who welcomed His Excellency and pointed out to the cooperation and continuous coordination between SASO and the General Department of Traffic. Mr. Tamis Al-Hammadi also explained, to His Excellency and his companions, the importance of this participation and SASO's role in consumer protection and energy consumption rationalization as a strategic national requirement, by giving them a quick overview of the regulations issued by SASO and being implemented recently. Some of these regulations are the regulations on energy efficiency programs, such as fuel economy standard for vehicles and light trucks, the regulation on vehicle tires rolling resistance and wet grip, and the mandatory regulation to include under-run devices in trucks and requiring importers and manufacturers to apply it mandatorily to minimize catastrophic damages caused by accidents when colliding with those trucks, God forbid ... as well as the emphasis on ensuring conformance to these regulations.
His Excellency the Undersecretary, Dr. Al-Battal, commended SASO's efforts and stressed the importance of continued monitoring and follow-up for the application of such regulations. Also, he noted that these new measures will come to fruition soon, God willing. In conclusion, Mr. Tamis Al Hammadi, Director General of the branch - the official spokesman of SASO- expressed his thanks to His Excellency on this visit and guidance.
