Makkah Branch Concludes Awareness Workshop on Low Voltage Electrical Appliances and Children Toys Regulations
SASO branch in Makkah region concluded on Monday, Jumada al-Awwal 20th, 1437 AH, corresponding to February 29th, 2016, a workshop on GSO Technical Regulation for Low Voltage Electrical Equipment and Appliances and GSO Technical Regulation on Children Toys, which was organized in collaboration with GCC Standardization Organization.
At the beginning of the workshop, the Director General of SASO branch in Makkah region, Mr. Mutlaq bin Raji Al-Tayari, delivered a speech, on behalf of His Excellency the Governor of SASO, Dr. Sa'ad bin Othman Al-Kasabi, in which he thanked all the workshop participants.
Also, he identified the importance of the workshop which aimed to move forward in activating the GCC joint work and continue implementing the awareness campaigns on the GSO Technical Regulation for Low Voltage Electrical Equipment and Appliances, considering the nearness to the mandatory implementation deadline for this regulation on July 1st, 2016.
Moreover, he indicated that SASO will implement an integrated strategy according to the conformity procedures. The strategy will include a comprehensive program to control all products introduced to customers as providing high-quality products will be mandatory. This quality should also correspond to the vision of our wise leaders, aiming at achieving regional leadership, making the Kingdom a scientific reference in the fields of standardization and conformity assessment, and improving the standards and quality of products and services.
At the end of the event, Mr. Mutlaq Al-Tayari praised the great role of the governor of SASO in holding such awareness workshops which aim at raising consumers' and merchants' awareness of regulations that organize the market performance and serve the public interest.
Awareness programs provided by SASO have witnessed a noticeable improvement regarding their means, methods, and channels used to reach SASO's target audience. SASO has achieved prominent success in communicating with all society's strata through lectures, workshops, exhibitions in which it participates, and short awareness films that have attracted a lot of attention due to their success in delivering information quickly.
