Workshop in the Eastern Region Branch to Raise Awareness of the Regulation of Low-Voltage Electrical Appliances
SASO's branch in the Eastern Province has organized, a workshop on Gulf Technical Regulation for low-voltage electrical appliances and equipment, on Wednesday 15/05/1437 AH corresponding to 23/2/2016, as well as the Technical Regulation on children toys, in collaboration with GSO.
Dr. Saad bin Othman Al Kasabi, Governor of SASO, has welcomed the attendees participating in the workshop, and gave thanks to GSO for their efforts, during the opening speech of the workshop delivered on his behalf by Tamis Al Hammadi, Director General of SASO's branch in the Eastern Province, the Spokesman of SASO.
He stressed on the importance of this workshop, as it seeks to move forward in activating the Gulf joint work, and to complete the implementation of awareness campaigns about the Gulf Technical Regulation for low-voltage electrical appliances and equipment. The anticipated date of the mandatory implementation of this Regulation is getting closer, 1st of July, 2016.
He pointed out that SASO will work in the coming period, until entering the implementation stage in July of this year 2016, to raise awareness among all the relevant bodies, through all means to introduce the Gulf Technical Regulation, in order to achieve consumer safety and health.
He explained that SASO will apply an integrated approach, in accordance with the conformity procedures. It will include a comprehensive program for the control of all the products offered to the consumer so that quality is mandatory. That is according to the vision of our wise leadership to achieve regional leadership and scientific reference in the fields of standardization , conformity assessment and upgrading products standards, quality and services to enhance consumer protection and competitiveness of the national economy.
During the activities of the workshop, Abdesselam Benyaich, Senior Specialist of conformity at GSO, has given a presentation of the requirements of the two regulations, as well as mechanisms for conformity assessment procedures.
At the end of the workshop, Tamis Al Hammadi, has extended his thanks to the Governor of SASO, GSO , the lecturer and the participants. He also praised the role of media organizations, which covered this workshop.
It is noteworthy that " SASO" directed earlier, the call to various private and governmental bodies, and academic and technical bodies to attend the events of the workshop. That is because of its importance in activating communication with all relevant bodies, and to provide the necessary awareness about the conformity goods and products to the standards in the Saudi market.
