SASO Participates in AFED to Support Localization of Spare Parts Industry
SASO is participating in the events of the Armed Forces Exhibition Diversification (AFED) to Support Localization of Spare Parts Industry, which is organized by the Ministry of Defense at Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center (RICEC) during the period from February 21st to 28th, 2016 and held under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Allah protect him.
SASO has stressed that holding AFED is considered a valuable opportunity to support national industry and develop production in line with required quality standards and international specifications. The exhibition is also a suitable environment for all parties concerned with industry to meet, boost their roles in the national economy in general, and support the military sector in particular.
SASO seeks through its participation in the exhibition to introduce manufacturers and visitors with its services in the field of standards issuance, measurements, accreditation, conformity of goods and products with standard specifications through regulations and conformity programs launched by it.
It is decided that AFED will provide more than 40.000 investment opportunity, making it the greatest of its kind in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Middle East in supporting and motivating the localization of equipment and spare parts industry for military systems, in addition to supportive medical supplies. The exhibition aims at enhancing communication among the Ministry of Defense, major companies, and national factories to localize the manufacturing of equipment and spare parts, seeking to achieve self-sufficiency for the Kingdom by manufacturing most of the needed equipment and spare parts; contribute to the localization, transfer, and development of equipment and spare parts industry; recycle financial resources locally; and encourage Saudization programs.
SASO's participation in the events of this exhibition comes as a part of activating the memorandum of understanding signed previously between SASO and the Ministry of Defense to boost cooperation and strategic partnership and achieve the public interest for the country in general and the military sector in the Kingdom in particular. SASO is concerned with having an effective role in supporting and enhancing military potentials of the Kingdom through the implementation of quality regulations or preparation of standard specifications related to military products.
