Under the patronage of the Governor of SASO, Dr. Sa'ad bin Othman Al-Kasabi, SASO has shared the world its celebration of the World Quality Day which takes place every year on the second Thursday of November. The day corresponds ‒ this year ‒ to Thursday, Muharram 20th, 1436 AH, corresponding to November 13th, 2014, and comes under the slogan "Building a Quality World Together."

Mr. Saeed Al-Zahrani, General Director of General Administration of Quality Control at SASO, clarified that SASO's participation in this occasion comes in line with its efforts to disseminate, reinforce and promote the quality culture inside public bodies and private sectors, contributing to the increase of the effectiveness of their performance in order to upgrade their provided services for citizens, measure their institutional excellence and enhance national products.

On the occasion of holding a symposium today, Thursday, at SASO's headquarters in Riyadh, which was organized by SASO in collaboration with the Saudi Society for Quality (SSQ), which accompanied the events of the World Quality Day, Mr. Al-Zahrani said, "SASO has taken care of and has paid great attention to quality. It has set many programs and executive plans to contribute to the achievement of quality in national products and services. SASO has also developed a large number of standard specifications. Moreover, it has founded several regulations and procedures in the field of quality in order to fulfill the vision of the Two Holy Mosques for quality by 2020, which is to make the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with its products and services a global standard for quality and excellence by 2020."

For his part, Mr. Saud Al-Shammari, the Chairman of SSQ, pointed out to the completion of preparing the draft SSQ strategic plan and indicated that its accreditation is under progress in order to implement it. Further, he identified that SSQ has also completed the preparation of its organizational regulation and structure.

During presenting a working paper in the symposium, Mr. Al-Shammari added saying that the reasons of establishing SSQ are represented in the desire of the wise leadership of establishing a private organization that contributes to a common goal, which is to increase the qualitative quality of all economic sectors, especially public and private; help highlight the importance of quality as a fundamental standard and pillar of competitiveness and industrial, economic and knowledge excellence; support growth and current economic boom through strategic, organized methods, programs and plans in the field of quality; and benefit from local and international academic and industrial expertise to develop quality standards in the Kingdom. He also specified that SSQ is nonprofit and that it enhances and improves the quality of services, products and information. SSQ also disseminates the quality culture and concepts and urges to implement quality in public and private sectors. Additionally, it contributes to the quality field as it is considered an expertise center.
