"SASO" participates in the 78th Annual General Meeting of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)

     SASO participated in the 78th annual general meeting of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and accompanying events during the period 17-21 Muharram 1436 AH, corresponding to 10-14 November, 2014, in Tokyo, Japan. The delegation was headed by His Excellency the Deputy Governor of SASO for Technical Affairs, Mr. Abdul Mohsen Al-Youssef.

   ​   The importance of the Kingdom's participation in this meeting, represented by SASO and the Saudi National Electrotechnical Committee (SNEC), is to impact the early stages of preparation of the electrotechnical standard specifications and to include them the requirements of the Kingdom in order to achieve advancement, enhance the national economy, remove technical trade barriers, support and facilitate trade exchange between the Kingdom and various countries, open new markets, achieve economic growth, raise the quality level of products and services, improve production efficiency, and increase the efficiency of industrial processes. 

   ​   On the margins of the meeting, SASO participated  in the administrative meetings of the Standardization Management Board (SMB), NC president workshop, NC Secretaries' workshop, and IEC council. In addition, side-meetings were held with representatives of standardization bodies from Gulf, Arab and international countries, during which aspects of joint cooperation for the development of standard specifications were discussed.

   ​   The Saudi delegation participating in this meeting included a number of relevant authorities, such as Saudi Aramco, King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy, Ministry of Transport and the National Electricity Transmission Company.

   ​  It is noteworthy that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia represented by the Saudi National Electrotechnical Committee (SNEC) is a full member of IEC.
