SASO Concludes First Stage of Institutional Excellence Measurement Workshops
Amid a great interaction and presence of 200 specialists and interests in quality representing 60 different sectors in the Kingdom, SASO finished, on Wednesday, Safar 11, 1436 AH, corresponding to December 3, 2014, the first stage of measuring the readiness for quality and institutional excellence in the Kingdom's business sectors. This came as part of SASO's stepping forward moves to fulfill the National Quality Strategy that is centered on the implementation of the royal vision of quality by 2020.
The workshop was attended by a number of officials and employees of many government and private sectors as well as interests and specialists in quality areas of various fields, so as to draw up an integrated picture of the reality of quality applications and practices at public and private bodies. Such picture will guide complementary energies toward activating modern methods of Total Quality Management.
SASO began that stage of the National Strategy Project for Quality by inviting different sectors to activate communication channels between SASO and these establishments, to reach an accurate formula to achieve total quality in business, activities, products and services of various sectors in the Kingdom and to know the needs and place of those sectors.
Dr. Sa'ad bin Othman Al-Kasabi, Governor of SASO, described the National Strategy Project for Quality, as being important and vital to the economy and growth of the Kingdom, which comes to complement the efforts of the Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Allah preserve him. King Abdullah bin Abdul Aziz's launch of the kingdom's vision of quality by 2020 is a historic turning point and a fundamental start of the process of quality and its applications in the Kingdom, he added.
His Excellency the Governor of SASO said, in a speech delivered on his behalf by Eng. Fawzi bin Hasan Hakeem, Deputy Governor for Standards and Quality, that the National Strategy Project for Quality is an ambitious vision that spurs to reach the global level in excellence, so that Saudi citizens enjoy security and safety in addition to economic and social development. He stressed the need for everyone's constructive participation in achieving that vision through clear plans and specific goals.
Eng. Hakeem noted that SASO has set many operational programs and plans in order to contribute to the achievement of quality in national products and services, in addition to the development of many regulations, procedures and awards in the field of quality. These events are part of a complete system supervised by SASO to reach effective fulfillment of the National Quality Strategy, he said.
This came to continue the series of symposia and workshops to introduce the National Strategy Project for Quality launched by SASO in Riyadh, Jeddah and Eastern Province, which was attended by a very large number of officials and employees of government and private establishments. Targeted establishments in this project were categorized into seven sectors which are government, higher education, public education, health, industry, services, and civil society, so as to facilitate the classification of the needs and place of each sector and to provide plans and programs that contribute to the activation and consolidation of quality applications in products and services for these sectors.
SASO will organize a similar workshop during the period from Safar 23 to 25, 1436 AH, corresponding to December 15 to 17, 2014.
