The General Director of Quality Control Department and the Director of the Quality Strategy Department at SASO, Mr. Saeed Hamoud Al-Zahrani, said that the project of the national strategy of quality is not impossible, but it needs sincere hearts and pure national efforts. He confirmed that the Kingdom can succeed in achieving the royal vision to make the Kingdom's products and services a global standard for quality and excellence as long as there are honest intentions from all sectors to move forward in achieving that strategy and transferring it to reality. This was announced in the speech delivered by His Excellency in the introductory symposium on the project of the national strategy of quality held at SASO's main headquarter in Riyadh.

The director of the Quality Strategy Department urged, during the introductory symposium organized by SASO for its employees on Tuesday, Jumada al-Awwal 5th, 1436 AH, corresponding to February 24th, 2015, to exert more efforts and time to support this vital national project. He also noted that SASO has made various efforts to support this strategic trend as it has completed the first introductory stage of the project by holding introductory symposiums in three major cities in the Kingdom: Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam. Those meetings had a large attendance and constructive interaction which contributed to the development of the project vision. This was followed by holding more than 14 workshops to check readiness and excellence in institutional performance, in which more than 200 specialists and interests in the applications of quality from 97 public and private institutions participated. These 97 public and private institutions represented seven sectors which were health, services, general education, industry, government sector, higher education and civil society.

Al-Zahrani pointed out that SASO has signed several cooperation agreements with public and private sectors to disseminate and reinforce the quality culture and to strongly support its practices and applications. Further, he said that SASO's success in achieving that strategy will be an accomplishment and success for the system of Saudi standards and measurements as a whole. He asserted that such success will represent a pivotal start towards disseminating quality applications in the society, protecting markets from fraudulent and nonconforming products and supporting the consumer's trust in Saudi services and products.

The project of the national strategy of quality came as a response to the royal vision launched by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, which is to make the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia with its products and services a global standard for quality and excellence by 2020.
