British Expert Reviews The US Standards For Testing Materials At SASO
SASO has witnessed a public lecture by the British expert ,Professor Kamran Nikbin, at Imperial college in UK, which was entitled "Development of the standard s of the American Society for Testing Materials( ASTM), as European standards, ISO standards and Treaty of Versailles and recommendations for material standardization". That was in the framework of SASO's efforts to get the benefit from global expertise in all relevant specialties.
Prof. Nikbin has confirmed that global industry and trade have become intrinsically linked to rates of development and progress in the standardization of the treatment of various materials and their applications. The British expert has addressed in his lecture standardization of test methods and product characterization of materials and standards, which is for engineering materials. He is pointing out that standardization of materials and vehicles is subject to many development categories which include characterization of material components , test methods , in addition to the standards' data base of alloy materials and other categories.
Prof. Nikbin has stated that international standards of engineering alloys have significant strides at materials level in recent years, pointing out that there are more than twelve thousand American standards used worldwide. He stressed that those standards have greatly contributed to improve living level and daily life conditions of millions of people, as well as to improve the trade and the rate of product acceptance in the global markets. In parallel, the importance of those standards is reflected on innovative business services, with US standards led to improve performance and give the customer confidence in products already sold and used, from children's toys to aircrafts.
The British expert has also discussed the Treaty of Versailles for standardization of materials, as well as the historical background of the development for standardization of engineering materials. In addiotion, he has discussed the ways and methods universally adopted for the improvement, achievement of the agreement and the deployment of developed standards.
It is noteworthy that Professor Kamran Nikbin is one of the members of the research team for the project "manufacturing reinforcing bar from scrap: technical requirements to achieve the quality and conformity" upon which SASO is working on currently.
