Saudi Arabia Hosts Gulf Assembly to Find Cooperation Methods among Standardization Bodies
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, represented by SASO, hosted today, Sunday, a workshop about exchanging experiences and expertise among member states of GCC Standardization Organization, with the participation of the Secretary General of the GCC Standardization Organization, Nabil bin Ameen Molla, the presidents of the Gulf standardization bodies and a number of Gulf specialists.
For its part, GCC Standardization Organization expressed its thanks to SASO for hosting the events of that workshop and praised its efforts in promoting and exchanging expertise among state members in addition to its effective contribution in this field.
The workshop witnessed a review of a number of issues and topics of mutual interest, particularly reviewing a working paper about the International Code Council (ICC) which is considered one of the scientific references for national building codes. The workshop also highlighted the initiatives of the United Arab Emirates in the field of energy efficiency, control on tires and the use of electronic RFID-chips. The workshop continued its activities and reviewed a working paper about the initiative of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia about the energy efficiency program.
Then the participants in the workshop visited the National Measurement and Calibration Center (NMCC) in addition to a number of different laboratories at SASO, such as General Materials Laboratories and Energy efficiency Laboratory.
The workshops and events are held from time to time to achieve coordination, integration and connection among member states in order to reach desired goals. GCC Standardization Organization cooperates with national standardization bodies in member states and develops and issues standards as unified Gulf standards to serve the member states and their national economy. The GCC Standardization Organization has issued about 17 thousand Gulf standards and technical regulations.
