SASO Invites Manufacturers and Interested People to Three Workshops, entitled "Saudi Technical Regulations for Truck and Trailer Under-Run Devices and their Implementation Mechanism"

SASO invited manufacturers and interested people to participate in three workshops in Dammam, Jeddah and Riyadh entitled "Saudi Technical Regulations for Truck and Trailer Under-Run Devices and their Implementation Mechanism" to explain technical regulations No. SASO GSO 2112:2012, SASO GSO 2113:2012 and SASO GSO 2114:2012 for " front, rear and side under-run devices for trucks and trailers" issued by SASO.

SASO explained that the first workshop will be held in Dammam's branch, on Sunday Sha'aban 20, 1436, corresponding to June 7, 2015. The day after, the second workshop will be held in Jeddah branch. The events will be concluded at SASO's headquarter in Riyadh, on Wednesday Sha'aban 23, 1436, corresponding to June 10, 2015.

SASO has issued three binding technical regulations for front, rear and side under-run protective devices for new trucks and trailers. The first stage of the implementation of these regulations has come into force in the beginning of 2015 on new imported trucks, trailers, and tractors. The implementation plan will be carried out, in collaboration with concerned authorities, in several stages that include: old imported trucks, trailers, and tractors in addition to trucks transporting  hazardous materials as of 01/04/1437 AH (14/10/2015), public transport tracks and tractors as of 01/01/1437 AH (11/01/2016), and trucks, trailers, and tractors of the private sector as well as the ones crossing the Kingdom as of 01/07/1437 AH (08/04/2016).

SASO noted that the technical regulation for motor vehicles' general safety requirements was updated, in which the use of "phosphoric" reflective tapes on the sides of trucks and goods vehicles in general was obligatory, and will come into force on all 2017 models.
