SASO Organizes Three Workshops to Introduce Traders to the Mechanisms of the Replacement Program for Refrigerators' Energy Efficiency Labels
SASO organizes three workshops to introduce traders, importers and owners of stores, selling electrical appliances, to the program of replacing energy efficiency labels for refrigerators, and to the required mechanisms for getting the new energy efficiency label. The first workshop was held at the headquarter in Riyadh, Sunday 30/ 06/1436 AH corresponding to 19/04/2015, while the second workshop will be held at SASO's branch in Makkah, Tuesday 02/07/1436, corresponding to 21/04/2015. SASO will conclude these events, Thursday 04/07/1436 AH, corresponding to 23/04/2015, by holding the last workshop in the Eastern Province.
These workshops were organized after technical teams from SASO conducted a survey that covered most shops in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dammam. As a result, they found that 6 different forms of energy efficiency labels for refrigerators are being used. The label replacement program aims to unify the form of the label and the star classification method, which makes it easier for the consumer to know and choose the best product in terms of consumption rationing.
To make sure of the authenticity of the new label, SASO clarified that it is characterized by a few marks. First, SASO's logo must be on the top right, the barcode must be on the top left. Also, the label must include the Saudi standard No. 2664/2013.
The events of these workshops will include introducing traders to the methods of registering and receiving new energy efficiency labels for refrigerators. SASO noted that the control over ports and plants started on 10/03/1436AH, corresponding to 01/01/2015. Regulatory campaigns on markets in this regard will start on 03/08/1436 AH, corresponding to 21/04/2015.
SASO's Board of Directors has issued in its meeting No. 149, dated 15/03/1436 AH, a resolution to cancel all forms of previous energy efficiency labels for refrigerators and freezers.
