 Dr. Al-Kasabi Calls for the Strengthening of the Institutional Partnership with the Private Sector to Support Environmental Protection Efforts

Dr. Al-kasabi calls for the strengthening of the institutional partnership with the private sector to support environmental protection efforts
 
 
          SASO organized on Wednesday, 03 Rajab 1436 AH, corresponding to 22/4/2015 , aworkshop in cooperation with Asharqia Chamber, the Eastern Province Chamber of Commerce and Industry, under the slogan " A lasting partnership for a sustainable environment ". It was under the auspices of His Excellency the Governor of SASO Dr. Saad bin Othman Al-kasabi and presence of the Director and members of the Board of Directors and a number of businessmen in the Eastern Province and officials of government departments and private companies in the region.  

         Dr. Saad Kassabi stressed the concern of SASO to activate cooperation and joint action and strengthen the institutional partnership with the private sector frameworks, pointing out that SASO was concern to establish the workshop embodiment of the vital role of national and social responsibilities in the development of standardization and quality, improve the level of services offered in various fields activities including the field of the environment to create a sustainable environment meet the minimum of security and safety requirements according  to the international standards and the Saudi standards specifications relating to this regard.

      The workshop opened its sessions with the HE Abdul Rahman S. Al-Otaishan, Chairman of Asharqia Chamber words,  in which he stressed the pivotal role of all government and private institutions to work to adopt a rational policy, contribute to provide the highest environment protection rates. As the general  director of SASO in the Eastern Province branch, Mr. Tams Ben Ali  Al-Hammadi reviewed  SASO's role in protecting the environment through shedding light on the SASO's current activities and its strategic objectives and its national initiatives as well as its programs related to protecting environment and ensuring sustainability.

      The workshop Included an open meeting with His Excellency the Governor of SASO with businessmen in the Eastern Province, where everybody discuss the national role for all government and private institutions. He stressed on everyone of  the need for integration and unifying of purpose and vision to achieve overall sustainability of environmental resources in the Kingdom.

      After that, the workshop completed with 6 lectures for several different entities, where Eng Tariq Zouari - SASO- reviewed  the environmental  management system ISO 14001 and many standards related to the environment and recycling  products. It was followed by a working paper  presented by  Eng. Saud Shabanat, Director of granting quality management systems certification in SASO in which he reviewed the quality management system ISO 9001.

    While the Saudi British Bank "SABB" experience, reviewed by Eng. Ibrahim Mahbob, is one of the models for companies certified to ISO quality system certification 9001. Mahbob spoke about the vision and mission of the bank and the stages of obtaining the certificate, reviewing the benefits gained through the use of quality management system in the call center management Bank.

      The workshop continued with a presentation by Dr. Imad Al-Jerivani General Manager of Future Resources company about the social responsibility of the private sector towards the protection of the environment, and pointed out that the environment is a national issue everyone should adopt. As Dr. Abdul Mohsen Alwan, Director of Health Information and Statistics Center of Eastern province, reviewed the multiple health risks of medical waste and the impact on damage to the environment and the health and safety of citizens and how to approach them.

        The workshop concluded with a working paper entitled Sustainable Management of e-waste by Dr. Asaad Ahmed Al-Thukair, Head of the  Biology Department ,King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals (KFUPM), which highlighted on how to deal with electronic waste and consumer role in preserving the environment in this regard.
