Eng. Saud Al-Askar as Deputy Governor at SASO
The Cabinet agreed to appoint Eng. Saud bin Rashid bin Abdullah Al-Askar to the post of Deputy Governor (Rank 15) at SASO during the cabinet's session, held last Monday, under the chairmanship of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdul-Aziz.
Eng. Saud Al-Askar is considered one of the excellent national qualified people in the fields of conformity and standardization. He has held a number of positions, lastly as the director of Conformity Assessment Department at GCC Standardization Organization since 2005. He was appointed as the secretary general of GSO during the transitional period from March, 2008 to October, 2008 in addition to being responsible for the program of GCC Conformity Certificates for Vehicles.
Al-Askar was one of SASO's employees. He worked as the vice-director of Standards Implementation and the executive director of the International Conformity Certification Program (ICCP) for exports to Saudi Arabia from 1997 to 2002. He had held many positions until he was appointed as the director of Accreditation Department at SASO till 2004. Then he worked at GCC Standardization Organization.
Eng. Saud Al-Askar was appointed last February as a member at the Executive Board of the Saudi Consumer Protection Association, in accordance with the resolution of the Minister of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabiah. Also, Al-Askar has a master's degree in food engineering. He was responsible for customs clearance, sampling of consignments and inspection rounds of markets from 1988 to 1997.
