SASO reopens the program of replacing energy efficiency labels of refrigerators
As the concern of the Saudi program for energy efficiency to facilitate the process of replacing the old energy efficiency labels of household refrigerators and freezers with recent ones, SASO has reopened the e-program of replacing the old energy efficiency labels of household refrigerators and freezers. It was reopened starting from Thursday, 8th of Ramadan 1436, corresponding to 25 June 2015 until the end of the next month, Shawwal ,corresponding to August 15, 2015, so as to give a chance to factories, showrooms and stores of electrical products for replacement.
After the end of the deadline starting from 1st of Dhu al-Qi'dah, corresponding to 16August, 2015, the supervisory teams of the Ministry of commerce and industry will implement inspection tours to factories and markets to seize household refrigerators and freezers non- conforming with the standards.
These ongoing efforts are part of a government system to coordinate its efforts under the supervision of «the Saudi program for energy efficiency» which seeks to put an end to the growing consumption of the power in the kingdom. Therefore, raising the efficiency of energy consumption by using the initiatives and programs designed according to local market potentials. One of the programs is updating a number of standard specifications of the main household electrical appliances that cause a large consumption of electric power.
The Program has put a work mechanism implemented by the concerned authorities, each in its interest. One of these mechanisms is strengthening the control over the factories , showrooms and stores of electrical products energy-consuming in all Saudi cities, and to ensure their compliance with the standards defined. This mechanism is implemented by a work team consisting of concerned authorities such as the Ministry of Commerce and Industry , SASO, Saudi Customs, the Saudi Center for Energy Efficiency.
