Under the slogan "Standards – the world's common language"
SASO Participates in the Celebrations of World Metrology Day

SASO has participated with the rest of the world in the celebration of World Metrology Day on the 14th of October, under the slogan "Standards-the world's common language", in conjunction with the Fifth National Quality Conference, which took place during the period from 13th to 15th October, 2015.
SASO has allocated a corner in the conference to celebrate this day, through which SASO's efforts in the field of metrology and consumer protection were displayed. Also, it displayed aspects of cooperation between SASO and other international organizations of metrology in order to support economic exchange, to protect the domestic market, and to strengthen the national economy. This participation comes within the framework of SASO's attention and keenness to participate in celebrations and world events that promote international cooperation and support between SASO and other international metrology organizations.
SASO plays a prominent role in supporting standardization activities at an international level to meet the requirements of the Kingdom in this field. This is shown through its participation in the international technical committees for standardization related to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), and the International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML). So, it can influence international standards in their initial stages of preparation and thereby contribute to the establishment of technical requirements appropriate for the Kingdom. Standardization provides safety and security conditions of product, reduces the size of non-conforming goods, and raises the level of quality which contributes in increasing the amount of exports and gaining consumer confidence in the national, regional and international markets.
Saudi standards contribute in determining the conditions and requirements that must be met to maintain the health and safety of the consumer, even during the production process or as a result of the use of goods and products. SASO aims that the Saudi standards are compatible with the international standards to enhance the competitiveness of national industries and their access to global markets.
It is noteworthy that different countries of the world annually celebrate the 14th of October as the World Metrology Day. Which is the day in which ISO was found, with the purpose of unifying standard specifications and supporting and facilitating trade exchange.
