Saudi Standards Obligates Importers to Register All Products on Saber Platform

 Saudi Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organization (SASO) obligates importers to submit a self-declaration for local and imported products, that are not subject to the technical regulations and SASO's laws, and to register products on Saber electronic platform at the beginning of 2021.

 This step complements SASO's efforts in improving and increasing the safety and quality levels of consumer products, and in ensuring that the products are free from any defects product defect that may affect the health and safety of the consumer, or his/her environment.  

 Pointing out that importers for local and imported products are obligated to register all the consumer products on Saber E-platform and apply the requirements for the products within the scope of applied technical regulations, or to submit a self-declaration for products that are not covered by regulations.

 SASO mentioned that the number of registered importers on Saber E-platform has reached more than (33,000), and (1,400,000) products. The issued consignment Conformity Certificates has reached over (850) Certificates.

 SASO explained that it completed the steps of electronic linking with the Ministery of Commerce (MCI) to validate the commercial registrations on 17/01/2019 and activated linking "Saber" and "Fasah" platforms on 01/07/2020 to accelerate the customs clearance procedures through electronic validation of the issued consignment conformity certificate when issuing the customs declaration via "Fasah" platform powered by Saudi Customs.

SASO mentioned that Saber E-platform facilitates access for the beneficiaries, importers, and local factories owners, to the approved conformity assessment bodies worldwide to obtain the required consignment conformity certificates and register them on Saber E-platform from the country of origin, to facilitate and accelerate the procedures for products' entrance to the Saudi market, which reduces the time of conformity process.
