Measurements of electricity are of great importance in our daily lives following the discovery and utilization of electricity in a variety of applications such as lighting and power generation. These measurements are among the important metrological applications that have a wide impact on residential, industrial, military, health, and civil sectors. To meet these diverse needs, the administration provides comprehensive calibration services in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in the fields of services and production. The administration consists of four main laboratories: Voltage Laboratory, Resistance Laboratory, Power and Energy Laboratory, and Electromagnetic Laboratory.
The Voltage Laboratory is an essential part of the Electrical Measurements Management at the National Center for Measurement and Calibration. The laboratory is responsible for establishing and maintaining standards for measuring both direct and alternating voltage, with accreditation to the electrical current unit (ampere), and disseminating them to all national entities and other calibration laboratories that measure voltage and current in industrial and service sectors. The laboratory provides calibration services for all relevant devices, including voltage and current sources and meters, using high-precision reference devices such as voltage reference cells, transformers, and DC and AC current meters. The laboratory has the capabilities and resources necessary to achieve the highest levels of accuracy in measurements, as follows:

The Power and Energy Laboratory is an integral part of the Electrical Measurements Management at the National Center for Measurement and Calibration. The laboratory is responsible for ensuring and maintaining measurements of power and energy in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia according to international standards. It provides calibration services for power and energy meters, such as active and reactive energy devices, voltage and current transformers, and other measuring devices. Additionally, the laboratory aims to develop industrial activities in the field of electrical power and energy measurement, as follows:
Calibration and Measurement Capabilities:
The Resistance Laboratory focuses on establishing and maintaining the standard for measuring electrical resistance, which is one of the electrical quantities describing the current resistance in electrical conductors, varying according to the type of electrical load (DC and AC resistances, capacitors, inductors). The laboratory employs various measurement methods for resistance using different measurement systems, which can be calibrated by the laboratory and assigned to international units. It provides calibration services for high-precision resistance measuring devices, such as standard resistors, standard capacitors, and standard inductors. The laboratory has measurement capabilities as follows:
Calibration and Measurement Capabilities:
The Electromagnetic Laboratory specializes in measuring the strength of electromagnetic waves emitted by electronic devices, household appliances, and others, and verifies the measuring instruments used for this task. The laboratory employs various methods to measure the electromagnetic field using different measurement systems, which can be calibrated by the laboratory and assigned to international units. It provides calibration services for high-precision measurement devices related to electromagnetics, such as magnetic field sensors and electric field sensors. Additionally, the laboratory has measurement capabilities as follows:
