After the discovery of electricity and its usage in lighting and energy generating, the electrical measurements with all its branches, became one of the important implementation of the metrology in our daily life, in housing, factories, energy plants, the military, health, and civil sectors at all levels. Responding to all these needs, the department covered a calibration service in the service and production sectors in KSA. The electrical measurements department consists of four laboratories: Voltage Laboratory, Impedance Laboratory, Power-Energy Laboratory, and Electromagnetism Laboratory.
It is one of the electricity measurement laboratories in the national center of measurement, and it is responsible for establishing, maintaining alternating, and direct current (AC and DC) voltage measurement standards with reference to amperes. In addition, transmit it to all national agencies that measures voltage, DC and AC in the industrial and service sectors.
