Resolution No. (164), Dated 25/3/1384 AH

THE COUNCIL OF MINISTERS,

After reviewing the attached transaction No. (3528) dated 15/2/1984AH (corresponding to 26/6/1964AD) submitted by the Divan of the Cabinet presidency of Saudi Arabia concerning the request of His Excellency the Minister of Commerce and Industry to add the article that dropped from the Law of Calibration and Measurement issued by the Council of Ministers of Saudi Arabia's Resolution No. (627) crowned by the Royal Decree No. (29), dated 12/9/1383AH (corresponding to 27/1/1964AD), which stipulates that: “The Minister of Commerce and Industry shall take the necessary measures to secure the basic forms of the standard units referred to in Article (2) of this Law. These forms should be consistent with the internationally-approved forms and shall be reckoned as the main reference in the application of the provisions of this Law,"

And the explanation of His Excellency the Minister of Commerce and Industry that the fall of the said article was not intended and the Ministry was not concerned, and it is the principle of the Law,

And his request to add the said article under Paragraph (B) of Article (3) so that the Law retains the sequence of its articles without changing or switching while maintaining consistency and compatibility,

And after reviewing the Recommendation No. (18) dated 17/3/1384AH (corresponding to 27/7/1964AD) submitted by the Laws Committee,

HEREBY DECREES THE FOLLOWING:

(1) Another paragraph shall be added to Article (3) of the Law of Calibration and Measurement, and its wording shall be as following:

Article (3)

a) Calibration and Measurement Centers shall be established in Riyadh, the branches of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MCI), and the departments established in municipalities for the same purpose. Such centers shall be subject to the technical supervision of the Calibration and Measurement Department; given that the venue jurisdiction of such centers shall be determined by a decision issued by the Minister of Commerce and Industry. The relation among such centers, the administrative bodies, and municipalities shall be determined by a decision issued by the Minister of Commerce and Industry and preceded with the approval of the Ministry of Interior.

b) The Minister of Commerce and Industry shall take the necessary measures to secure the basic forms of the standard units referred to in Article (2) of this Law. These forms should be consistent with the internationally-approved forms and shall be reckoned as the main reference in the application of the provisions of this Law.

(2) A Draft Royal Decree shall be prepared, and its copy shall be attached hereto.
